MADISON - Marie O. Kozak, age 93, a long-time Madison resident, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. She was born on December 11, 1920 in Columbus, Wis., the daughter of Henry and Mary (Carlin) Tiedt. She married Peter S. Kozak on May 23, 1939 at St. Jeromes Catholic Church in Columbus. She worked at the Wisconsin Taxation Dept. and the VA Hospital. She was active in the Madison Eagles Club. She enjoyed country music, dancing and sewing. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She is survived by two children, Robert (Marilyn) Kozak of DeForest, and Darlene Lewis (friend Clinton Joyner), of Oak Island, NC, and her six grandchildren, Renee (Chris) Ramirez, Steve (Tracie) Kozak, Julie Kozak (friend Stacy), Angie (Steve) Jacobs, Melissa (Patrick) Klipstine, and Kedrick (Crista) Lewis; twelve great-grandchildren; Tatem and Tommy Kozak; Journey, Axle, Chance, Blaze, Cash & Wild Jacobs; Will, Abbey & Tyler Klipstine; and Georgia Lewis; sisters, Laura (Russell) Hundley and Betty Voss, sister-in-law, Rosella Tiedt, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter (1968); her son, William; daughter-in-law, Sharon Kozak; sisters, Margaret Eagy, Catherine (Albert) Kranz, Viola (Ervin) Mann; brothers, Elmer (Harriet) Tiedt and Joseph Tiedt; and brother-in-law, Howard Voss. The family would like to thank the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center nurses and staff for their many years of wonderful care for our mother, and also to Dr. DiMaggio and Terri Patwell at Dean Care for their compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Roger Nilles presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.
