Mabel H. Gorell

Mabel H. Gorell, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born January 20, 1920 in Norwalk, WI to Walter and Angelika (nee Welte) Smith. After graduating from Augusta High School in 1939, she worked in Lake Geneva and at Sacred Heart Hospital, Ordinance and Gillette's in Eau Claire. On November 10, 1945, she married Carl E. Gorell at St. Anthony's Church in Augusta. They spent their lives farming in the Township of Seymour. Mabel will be greatly missed as she was devoted to her family, community and church. Survivors include five children: Coleen (Duane) Badman of Eleva, WI; Loren (Pat) Gorell of Fall Creek, WI; Michael (Patti) Gorell of Eau Claire, WI; Allen (Jean) Gorell of Eagan, MN and Jenifer (Derrick) Welke of Fall Creek, WI; eleven grandchildren: Michelle and Danielle Badman, William Hicks, Robert (Joan) Hicks, Brandon and Travis Gorell, Kelly Henry, Casandra and Nicholas Gorell, Mitchell and Brittany Welke; five great-grandchildren: Dakotah, Bryce, Jadein, Kiersten and Kyra Hicks; three sisters: Julia McKale of Milwaukee, WI, Margaret Litchfield of Union, IL, and Angela (Robert) Dybul of Milwaukee, WI. Further survived by nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three children: twins Charles and Deborah and Floyd; four brothers: Frank, Bernard, Walter "Bud", and Theodore Smith. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 9, 2008 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Township of Seymour with Fr. Edmund Doerre officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Plombon’s All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Service, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM vigil service and again on Monday, at the church, one hour prior to Mass.
