M. Violet Collins

Violet Collins, age 90, of Hudson, WI, formerly of Eau Claire, WI , found peace on Monday, June 25, 2007 at Christian Community Home in Hudson, WI in the presence of her loving family. She was born May 18, 1917 in Richland Center, WI to Floyd “James” and Margaret (nee Hutter) Connor. At just 16 years of age, “Vi” enrolled in Sauk County Normal School and one year later, in the spring of 1934, she graduated. The following year, she enrolled in a two year teacher's course at UW-Platteville. Her first teaching job was in a one room school house in Wonewoc, WI.. Vi taught in Southwestern Wisconsin and later continued her carreer substitute teaching while raising her family in Eau Claire. On May 30, 1942, she married Joseph Collins in Reedsburg, WI and celebrated 52 years of marriage until his death in 1995. Vi was an active member and past president of the Catholic Women's Club of St. Patrick Parish Survivors include 3 daughters: Mary Anne (Timothy) Svoboda of Stockholm, WI, Jane (Robert) Curtis of Eau Claire, WI & Sheila (Christine Reisdorf) Collins of Minneapolis, MN. 3 sons: James P. (Juanita) Collins of Richfield, MN, Daniel (Paula) Collins of Eau Claire, WI & Patrick (Lucy McNellis) of Hudson, WI.. 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Further survived by other relatives & friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Joseph R. Collins, her parents, Floyd & Margaret (nee Hutter) Connor, 2 brothers, Leo and Floyd J. Connor and an aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Carl Connor. The Mass of Ressurrection will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, WI. . Friends may call from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, at the church. Private interment will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery.
