MADISON - Lyle Leroy Lenzendorf, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Madison, Wis. surrounded by his family. He was born July 24, 1922 in Boscobel, Wis. the son of Robert and Amy (Waters) Lenzendorf. He grew up on the family farm outside of Eastman, Wis. Lyle Served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He married Ruth Stevenson on November 9, 1946 in Eastman, Wis. Lyle enjoyed gardening and traveling. He enjoyed the trip as much as the destination. Lyle worked as a supervisor for Mendota Health Care for twenty six years. Lyle was an active member of the Monona United Methodist Church for thirty five years, singing in the church choir for many of those years. He enjoyed being the caretaker of the church grounds for many of those years. Lyle had a deep faith. He was a member of American Legion Post 481 in Madison. Most of all Lyle will be fondly remembered for the love of his family. Lyle is survived by his wife Ruth of Madison, Wis.; two sons Ronnie Lenzendorf, of Madison, Wis and Lonnie (Bonnie) Lenzendorf of Deforest, Wis.; three grandchildren Robert Lenzendorf, Tamara Lenzendorf, and Michael Lenzendorf, all of Deforest, Wis.; two great granddaughters, Mariah and Ellie Lenzendorf at home in Deforest, one brother Harold (Jane) Lenzendorf, of Eastman, Wis.; two sisters Helen (Herb) Schneider, of Prairie Du Chien, Wis. and Shirley Vogel, of Janesville, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Road, Monona, Wis, with Rev. David Byers-Dent officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established in memory of Lyle.
