MIDDLETON Luella B. Johnson, age 94, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at the Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Luella was born in Mattoon, Wis., on March 25, 1923, the daughter of Ivan and Anna (Wheeler) Bean. Luella graduated from high school in Brandon, Wis., in 1940 and from Ripon College in 1944. While there, she met Warren Johnson, who became her husband of 69 years. Luella majored in Music and Psychology, and had minors in English and Spanish. In her varied career she worked in offices and a green house, taught piano, played the violin and was a long-time church organist. She also taught high school English and Spanish. She leaves twin daughters, Jean (Jack) Katzfey of Melbourne, Australia, and Joan (Dennis) Bruggink of Madison, Wis.; and three grandchildren, Faye Bruggink (Quentin and Ana) and Allison (Matt) Ackerman, all of Madison, Wis., and Lars Katzfey of Melbourne, Australia. She also leaves two great-granddaughters, Liliana and Eleanor Ackerman of Madison; and two brothers, Robert (Mary) Bean of Madison, and Lawrence Bean of Ellicott City, Md. Burial will be in the Johnson section of the Malden, Illinois cemetery, with a memorial service there in spring of 2018.
