MADISON - Lucille Marguerite Gingi Ramsey, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Agrace HospiceCare in the arms of her granddaughters, Richie and Mia. She was born into a close-knit French Canadian family on August 28, 1931, in Saco, Maine, the daughter of Eugene and Laura (Plamondon) Neault. She married James Ramsey on June 6, 1953 in Wiesbaden, Germany while serving in the U.S. Air Force. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in social work, a career she worked in for 28 years with the county of Milwaukee. Widowed at age 31, she raised her four children on her own. Uncountable stories have been told of her adventures and mischief. She always presented herself exactly as she was, full of style, humor and expressiveness. She was fiercely independent and created her life the way she wanted it. She loved the simple things (doing laundry, shopping, pushing the button on the dishwasher) and often whistled under her breath. She preferred silliness over sadness and hated goodbyes. She was incredibly generous in big and small ways: she shared her home, money, time, and love with many people. She sent her guardian angel, Strong Blood, on missions to help people in need of care and protection. Gingi loved her family and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and all the people in her life. She enjoyed playing scrabble with her friends, singing in the church choir, attending her TOPS meetings, serving as chaplain in the local Korean Veterans chapter, Ohio Avenue and Tuesday night parties, and her little dog, Greta. She was beloved by her family and friends, and we feel blessed to have had her in our lives and to have been a part of hers. She forever changed us: we laugh at her stories, use her Gingi-isms, and try to pass along her generosity and light-heartedness as best as we can. There will never be another like her. Survivors include her children, Sue (Wilson), Bruce, Jeannine, and Lorraine; her grandchildren, Danny, Melanie, Laina Richie, Mia, Azaria, Jaden, Beau, and Amelia; her great-grandchildren Clara and Luna; and her brother, Arthur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; her sister, Rachel; and her granddaughter, Lucy. Grandma Lucy is now in heaven with little Lucy. Funeral services will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, on Friday, August 17, 2018, with the visitation starting at 9:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon. The burial will be at FOREST HILL CEMETERY 1:15 p.m., with military honors. Memorial contributions in her name can go to the music ministry at St. Bernard, the Wil-mar Neighborhood Center, Habitat for Humanity, or the Go Fund Me Lucy fund https://www.gofundme.com/memorial-amp-hospital-fund. At some point, you just have to declare success. --Gingi You have succeeded in living a full and rich life filled with laughter and love.
