MADISON Louis Vivier, age 85, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015. He was born in Castleton, N.D. on Dec. 3, 1929 the son of Peter and Yvonne Vivier. Following his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Louis received his associates degree from Elgin Watchmaking School in Elgin, Ill. He later moved to Madison where he became a chef at the Edgewater Hotel. Louis owned and operated the State Street Army Store in Madison for 45 years. He was an amazing bowler, winning the state championship in 1966. He is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Irene Vivier; his other best friend, his dog Stella; a brother, Ralph (Ethel) Vivier; a sister, Isabel DeCoteau; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by their daughter, Maureen Vivier; his parents; a sister, Doris; and a brother, Frank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH at ST. JAMES CHURCH, 1128 St. James Ct., Madison on Monday, March 30, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Tom Baxter presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Louis name.
