MADISON - Lorraine M. (Ash) Pells passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 1, 2024. She died of natural causes after a brief illness. Lorraine was born on June 16, 1930, - it was important for her to gather for her recent 94th birthday celebration. Lorraine attended Barneveld High School until 1950 following a career with Oscar Meyer's for 35 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Sun Prairie, loved the frequent visits from her pastors and loved reciting the Apostle's Creed.
Lorraine was an avid seamstress and crafter up until her eyesight took her hobbies away. She loved Bingo and the time she spent at the family cabin in Adams. Lorraine spent a lot of time on genealogy creating books for the Pells and Ash family ancestry. She was known for being a great dancer, roller-skater, volleyball player, swimmer and lover of birds and pets. She was a loyal Packer's fan.
She was preceded in death in 1996 by the love of her life, Melvin Pells, her son Bruce Tommy Pells (Sun Prairie), her two sisters, Shirley Ash Duesler (Middleton), Betty Ash Cox (Barneveld) and her parents, Lloyd and Marlyn (Olson) Ash of Barneveld.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Jan (Andy) Woudenberg, Madison and Linda Pells, Green Bay; along with 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Fantus Cox of Barneveld. She has several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her daughter, Jan and family did everything possible to keep Lorraine comfortably living at home. Lorraine will be known for wanting to share a good strong cup of coffee while sharing stories. She prided herself in looking good up until the day of her departure to heaven, making sure she made it a point to tell recent hospital visitors that she loved them, and they were beautiful! It was the beauty of her soul admired by all shining through and through.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
