SUN PRAIRIE – Lor Thao, age 52 of Sun Prairie, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 from an accident while he was working. He was born on June 16, 1957 in Laos, the son of Sia Fong Thao and Sia Vue Thao. Lor came to the United States in 1976 as a refugee from Laos. He attended school in Montana, and later received his associate degree in carpentry. He is survived by his wife, May Choua, of Sun Prairie; six children, Jason, Joshua, Andrew, Shannon, Ashley and Michael Thao; mother, Sia Vue Thao; a sister, Pai and her family; a brother, Chong Vang Thao, and his family; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 through Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at the former Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 4018 Mineral Point Rd., Madison. Lor was a friendly person, who liked to help the community, especially cultural ceremonies and real estate consulting. He was a handyman, well respected because of his carpentry skills; he was able to help other family and friends in obtaining houses in good condition, maintaining, building and fixing them. Lor enjoyed fishing, playing badminton, cooking and spending time with his family.
