Lisa R. Showers

July 20, 1962 — September 29, 2024

Lisa Rae Showers, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday September 29, 2024, at St. Mary’s hospital in Madison. Lisa was born on July 20, 1962, in Madison to parents Curtis and Helen Roscoe. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1980. Lisa married Richard Showers on September 30th, 2007, at The Gates of Heaven synagogue.

Lisa worked for many years as an executive administrator for many well-known construction companies in the Madison area, including running a restoration business with her husband. Always wanting to lend a hand, Lisa volunteered for many clubs and organizations such as Girls Scouts, Moose Lodge, Madison Area Music Awards as well as many local community events.

Lisa had a passion for music from an early age and played with many bands in the south-central Wisconsin area. She especially enjoyed playing music with her brother Bill and good friend Bruce and hosted many open jams. She was well known for her bass playing but even more well known for her corny jokes on stage! Lisa shared the stage with musicians from all over and was always the shining star known as “Goldie” with her bandmates Peaches and Cardboard from IMOK.

Lisa loved to make everyone laugh and was determined to see everyone happy. She had an interest in collecting antiques and animatronics and was always on the hunt for that rare find. Lisa was at her happiest around her children and grandchildren and all her family and friends. She enjoyed meeting new people, taking road trips, attending concerts (especially Todd Rundgren shows!) and most of all our annual family white water rafting trips down the Wolf River.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Richard Showers; brothers, William (Karen) Roscoe and David (Pam Esser) Roscoe; daughter, Candace (David Hauenstein) Masino; son, Jeffrey (Ashley Beiter) Masino; bonus daughter, Kia Nassik; stepdaughter, Tracy Showers; stepson, Brent (Jeanie) Showers; grandchildren, Helen, Hollie, Lina, Caysen, Olive, Willow, Brayden, Safiyah, Karlee, Savannah, Damien, Zach, Alexis, and Jadyn; great-grandchildren, Kayliah, Violet, Onyx, Syre, Oaklyn, Wrenlee, Nephews and Nieces, Tyler, Ryan, Jason, Brooke, Taylor, Lacey, Danny, Kyle, Kaliyah, Alexandria, Travis, and Natalie; special brother-in-law, Rob Showers; special sisters-in-law, Lisa Masino and Susan Masino; special cousins, Andy and Tracy Rummell; special friends, Bruce Gehrke, Wanda Drause-Verdon, Scott Hartwig, Denise Rimmer, Heather Yonker, Erin Rosinski, Matt Endicott, Chad Stauffacher, Carla Maier, Rita Witter, Debra Heidenreich, Michelle Arnold, Angela Webster, Nancy Castillo-Wareham, Diedre Taylor and Deb Wilson; and many more bandmates, friends and relatives.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Helen Roscoe; infant brother, Jeffrey; nephews, Bryce Roscoe, Randy Endres, and Aaron Masino; niece, Angela Hubble; and special friends, Shannon Wareham, Troy Arnold and Buzzy.

Lisa’s free spirit embodied and exuded love and kindness and those around her felt nothing short of that. We will forever miss her beautiful contagious smile, her infectious laughter, and the everlasting warm embrace in her hugs.

We would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all EMS and first responder personnel for their courageous efforts and all the kind and compassionate medical staff of St. Mary’s emergency department.

We will announce a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
