Leon J. Kruchten, Sr.

MADISON - Leon James Kruchten Sr., age 67 of Madison passed away on Wednesday, Sept, 3 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, with his family by his side. He was born on Nov. 12, 1946, the son of the late Michael and Lucinda (Schroeder) Kruchten. Leon served his country from 1965 to 1969 in the U.S. Navy as an electrician, and was awarded three medals during his service. Leon worked at Oscar Mayer for 30 years as an electrical engineer and he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, playing cards and seeing his grandchildren. Leon is survived by the mother of his children, Elaine (Dolphin) Dixon of Poynette; and their three children, Leon Kruchten, Jr. of Madison, Robert (Kris) Kruchten of Greenville, N.C., and Kimberly (Daniel) Evans of Waunakee; five grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters, Bernard (Barb) of Roxbury, Robert (Jackie) of Roxbury, Janet (Jim) Nelson of Waunakee, Bernie Skolaski of Beverly Hills, Florida, Donald (Sharon) of Lodi, Marlene (Les) of Middleton, Raymond (Ruth) of Roxbury, Steve (Jane) of Dane, Mike (Cherie) of Roxbury, Joan (Ed) Meier of Cross Plains, Julie (Dave) Shimpach of Lodi. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Michael; his mother, Lucinda; a brother, Gerald; and a sister-in-law, Kay Kruchten. A memorial gathering will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. NORBERTS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Roxbury at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 with Father Alex Navarro presiding. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in honor of Leon Kruchten, Sr. The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to Beverly Holley for her friendship, love and caring of their father.
