Lawrence J. Wiedenfeld

Lawrence Larry Wiedenfeld, 86, of Janesville, entered new life on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Janesville. He was born on March 10, 1930, the son of Sylvester and Adelaide (Miller) Wiedenfeld. A veteran of the USAF during the Korean War, Lawrence served 4 years as a gunner on B-26 and B-29 aircraft. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with BS degree in Dairy Science and a MS in Ag. Education. Larrys central vocation in life was that of a teacher of high school youth, in whom he always saw so much potential. Never completely retired, he was a substitute teacher for Parker and Craig High Schools until 2 years ago. Always enthusiastic for public service, Larry had a unique record of over 20 yrs. of volunteerism: 9 on the Lake Mills School Board, and 14 on the Rock County Board, and during this time he also served 7 yrs. as chairman of the Democratic party of Rock Co. He was a member of Nativity of Mary parish where he served as Lector. Lawrence, although a lifelong bachelor, will mostly be remembered as family man due to his frequent visits to the family homes of each of his brothers and sisters, thus keeping the entire family close to his heart. Lawrence is survived by sister Lorraine (Robert) Dehnert of Waterloo, brothers; Ronald (Rita) Wiedenfeld of Huntley, IL, and Leo (Judy) Wiedenfeld of Crystal Lake, IL, and sister in law Alice Wiedenfeld of Beloit, as well as many nephews and nieces of his extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert (Alice) Wiedenfeld of Beloit, and Raymond (Carol) Wiedenfeld of Lake Mills; and sister, Evelyn (Omar) Welter of Fort Atkinson. As well as his brother in law, Robert (Lorraine) Dehnert of Waterloo. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Janesville. A visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Janesville. And again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
