Lavonne Ann Leitzke

DEERFIELD – LaVonne Ann (Mathison) Leitzke, age 77. The Deer came at 12:40 Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was born on December 17, 1934 in Madison, the daughter of Paul and Esther (Bohn) Mathison. Upon graduating from East High School, she worked at Manchesters and the Wisconsin Telephone Company. She met Marvin Leitzke while working at the telephone company and they were married April 29, 1961, in Madison at the old First Presbyterian Church. They would have celebrated their 51st anniversary this April Her father always called her “Vonnie” and said she was the smartest one of the bunch. LaVonne enjoyed as a hobby, decorating very special Christmas and Birthday gifts for her siblings and friends. In her springtime days, she loved to bowl and go on Zor Shrine trips with her husband and relatives. Her two granddaughters, Hope and Paige, were the “light of her life”. She also believed in the simple things in life; like going out to the artesian well for water and sitting at the end of Blackhawk Island enjoying the day. She never forgot her roots. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; her children, Derek and Dustin Leitzke; her grandchildren, Hope and Paige Leitzke; her brother, Philip (Anita) Mathison; Sisters, Marcella Bergmann, Burdell Percy, Armilla (Wesley) Patrick; and many nieces and nephews. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul Mathison, Jr., and a brother-in-law, Leonard Percy. The family wishes to thank Agrace HospiceCare Center of Madison, for their caring support. She has requested no memorial services. Memorials can be addressed to the family.
