MADISON - Laurine Joanne (Leiser) Higgins, age 81, left this world at 1:38 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, peacefully and with dignity. She was born April 15, 1939, to Chester Leiser and Mildred (Hinzes) Leiser. She was the middle child of five, two sisters and two brothers. There is a family joke about her being a tax baby. She is survived by her sisters, Jackie Schuetz and Marlene Slamka; brother, William Leiser; children, Debra (Michael) Meinert, Edwin (Analiza) Fenni, and Lori Fenne; step-children, Shawn (husband, Jon) Higgins and Larry (Millennia) Higgins; grandchildren, Carrie (Nathan Herrmann) Wills, Christina Fenne, Shaun Meinert, Nicole (Manuel) Nuñez, Terra (friend, Terrance Pearson) Small, Melissa (Josh Minette), Edwin (Nadia) Fenne, Jeric Blancflor, Jeran Blancflor and Leila Higgins; great-grandchildren, Erica (Joanie Waukau) Wade, Summer (friend Carlos) Herrmann, Tagen De Rocher, Riley Minette, Molly Connor, Lily Herrmann, Jaelyn Small, Kaelyn Small, Warren Meinert and Skylar Minette. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Larry Higgins; parents, Chester and Mildred Leiser; brother, Robert Leiser; brothers-in-law, Michael Schuetz and Ronald Slamka. Last but not least Miss Sophia, it took them a while but soon they were best friends. She was truly a therapy kitten. Private services will be held.
