Kenneth Osborne

The angels welcomed Ken Osborne into heaven on June 15, 2009 after a too short battle with cancer. Ken was born in Beloit on Sept. 2, 1947, the son of Lyle and Helen (Wilcox) Osborne. He graduated from Orfordville Parkview in 1966. Ken joined the U.S. Army in Dec. 1966, and went to El Paso, Texas for basic training.  He later was assigned to Nike Missile Site in Mound, Minnesota where he served until his discharge in Dec. 1969. Ken married his best friend, Linda Reightley (nee Neumann) on July 12, 1986 at The Church By The Side Of The Road, Rockton, Illinois Ken spent most of his life in the construction business, starting out building counter tops at the age of 16. He built homes for several years, and eventually had his own siding business. There wasn't anything he couldn't do or wouldn't try. Ken retired when Linda did in 2006. Ken took flying lessons for awhile, getting thru his solo cross country flights. He considered that accomplishment as conquering another machine. He also enjoyed "playing the horses". One time Ken and Linda flew to Florida for the weekend just to go to Tampa Bay Downs. Ken and Linda spent a lot of time doing things together. They enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, lots of travel, building a spec house, remodeling their home in Afton, spending time with family and friends, and of course watching the Packers. Ken and Linda also enjoyed playing cribbage the last few months, even playing while Ken got his chemo. Linda usually won, but then she pegged for both of them. Ken will be sadly missed by those he left behind, his wife, Linda; his son, Dan Osborne, of Milton, and his kids, Abby, Tina and Daniel; also by Linda's kids, Paul (Tracy) Reightley, and their children, Zoey and Cody, of Lake Ann, Michigan; Shannon (Steve Pett) Reightley, and her children, Brianna and Nathan, of Milton; a brother, Don (Drew Lussenden) Osborne, of New Glarus; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doug Osborne; a sister, Sandi Johnston; and two nephews, Dave and Mike Osborne. A special thanks to Pam of Mercy Hospice. Funeral services will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1618 E. Racine St., Janesville on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow in the Town of Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1618 E. Racine St., Janesville on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from noon until the time of service. (608)754-8700 www.866allfaiths.com "Dear Ken, Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. In my heart you hold a place no one else can ever fill. ‘Till we meet again... I will always love you, Linda"
