MADISON – Kathryn A. “Kathy or Kate” Pendleton (Kielhold), age 40 died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. She had been struggling for some years with alcoholism. She was born Jan. 19, 1970 in Rhinelander. Kate attended Rhinelander High School and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1988. She attended UW-Eau Claire before moving to Connecticut, where she attended business college to become a paralegal. She was a live-in nanny during that time. She would later move to Madison, where she worked for Pike Design and Boardman Law Firm. She also volunteered for several organizations. Kate married Thomas Pendleton, together they lived in New Glarus, prior to their divorce. Kathy had an unending whit, some other artistic talents were drawing, painting, writing poetry and gourmet cooking. Kathy cared deeply for her family and friends. She was compassionate and ready to give and help everyone. Her cats, Lucy, Ricky and Dottie were her constant companions. She loved to fish, hunt and trap with her father and brother. Kathy is survived by her father, Herman (Lynn) Kielhold, of Rhinelander; her mother, Mary “Sue” (Tom) Aldrich, of Madison; a brother, Craig (Nataliya) Kielhold and Craig’s children Emily and Benjamin, of Madison; step-brothers and sisters, Dave (Myra) Kubesh, of Rhinelander; Karen Whiteagle, of Baraboo; Paul (Gina Thompson) Kubesh, of Rhinelander; Pam Kubesh, of Rhinelander; Tina (Pete) Anhalt, of Waunakee; Becky (Nate) Pederson, of Waunakee; Jason (Heather) Aldrich of Sun Prairie; Aunt Kay Eby Kielhold, of Yucaipa, California, Aunt Arlene Dorn, of Portage; Uncle Lyle Kielhold, of Sioux City, Iowa; good friend, John Craig; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Oris and Claudine (Sheckel) Kielhold; and maternal grandparents, William and Dorothy (Gruen) Beck. A reception will be held at the HIGHLAND MANOR COMMUNITY CENTER OFFICE, 10 Malibu Dr., Madison on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A service will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. Sandra Blake officiating.
