STOUGHTON Katherine S. Katie Stout, age 69, of Stoughton, Wis., died peacefully on Nov. 23, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. Katie attended Franklin Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and graduated from Appleton High School. She received a bachelors degree in elementary education in 1970 from UW-Stevens Point. She then taught 4th grade at Franklin Elementary School in Appleton. After teaching at Franklin, Katie worked for six years at UW Madison School of Education and Department of Public Instruction. In 1987, she earned her masters in educational administration from UW Madison. In 1991, she went to work at WEAC as Director of Teaching and Learning. She retired in 2003 to spend time with her husband, Carmen, and to devote time to craftwork. Katie remained a dedicated Democrat throughout her life, and devoted time and effort to her favorite political and educational causes. Katie married Carmen Stout on Jan. 21, 1984. They spent many happy years together. After their retirement, Katie and Carmen did some traveling. Katie said her favorite location was Russia because she met many fun people. Katie is survived by her husband, Carmen; mother, Sally Schultz; sisters, Pat Rowland, Lis Bradley, Jill Wilson, Jaci Czarniak, and Juli Gray; brother, Gus Schultz; step-daughters, Deb Tewalt and Sherri Olsen; in addition to grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Jim Schultz; sister, Janet Schultz-Schneider; and brother-in-law, Bob Wilson. A party to celebrate Katies life will be held at the THE EAST SIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Dr., Madison on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. A reception will follow the service until 3 p.m. Please spare the flowers, as Katie was allergic to them.
