Karen J. Whitford

Karen J. Whitford, age 82, of Janesville, WI passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison, WI from complications following heart surgery.

She was born in Evansville, WI on October 19, 1942, to Marion and Marcelaine (Baker) Fazel. Karen was united in marriage to Monte Whitford Sr. on November 18, 1961, in Milton, WI. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where over the years she taught Sunday school, worked on the Altar Guild, and served on several church committees. She worked in the accounting field until retirement.

Throughout Karen’s lifetime, she and her husband enjoyed traveling on their Gold Wing motorcycle, attending stock car races, playing cards, square dancing, and hosting family and friends at many pool parties. She had many hobbies but excelled at quilting, sewing, and knitting. Most of all, Karen cherished spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters. She regularly attended their activities and was a proud Dance Grandma. She was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild due in May 2025.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Monte; children: Wayne (Michelle) Whitford, Kim Whitford, and Penny (Tom) Christianson; granddaughters: Lexi (Troy) Ziegler, Hailey (Grant) Christianson, and Addison Kitzman; siblings: Darlene (Richard) Rehak, Gary Fazel and Walter (Nancy) Fazel.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Whitford; daughter-in-law, Jessica Whitford; her parents; stepfather, Howard Brown; sister Jean Bruhn; brother-in-law Fred Bruhn, and sister-in-law Alice Fazel.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Janesville, WI with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A luncheon will follow at the church hall.
