MADISON - Karen Olson-Solberg passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, on Jan. 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. Karen had been battling multiple types of cancer for the past 20 years. Karen was always on the go. She enjoyed helping people find their perfect property as a real estate agent, and security in their lives as an insurance agent. She looked forward to and attended many Concerts on the Square and farmers' markets in Madison. She was also a Packers and NASCAR fan. She favored Elvis, Johnny Cash, Allen Jackson, Katy Perry and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Karen loved to go shopping, to movies, gardening and especially spending time with both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always brought the family together for holiday celebrations at her home, going to the water parks with her grandchildren during the summers, and spoiling her great-grandchildren. Karen was born March 23, 1944, and originally from Baraboo, where she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Thelma (Holt) Green; paternal grandmother, Susan Sickles of Wisconsin Rapids; along with her parents, William and Pauline (Green) Sickles; her sister, Candice Somers (Sickles, Beckwith, Schwenkhoff) of Florida, and her brother, Paul (Kathy) Sickles, of DeForest. She is survived by her loving partner of 20 years, Rory Johnston of Fitchburg. Karen is also survived by her daughter, Angela (David Temby) Olson of Beaver Dam; along with six grandchildren, Ashley (Ciridan Yarwood) Olson, Tiffany (Kyle Welch) Olson, Taylor (Callie Schmitt) Olson and Ashley (Danny Stolze) Bladl, all of Beaver Dam, Michael (Cassandra Ramsey) Olson of Madison and Tyler (Amanda Trost) Olson of Columbus; six great-grandchildren, Rogue and River and another on the way, (Ashley), Crayola Rain (Tiffany), Liam David (Tyler), and Jordyn (Ashley Bladl). She is also survived by her brother, Mike Sickles of Fond du Lac; a sister, Renee Small; nieces and nephews, Bambi (Sickles) (Jason) Dolphin of DeForest, her brother, Jamie Sickles of Madison, along with Brian and Sophie Small. Great-nieces and nephews, Bella (Bambi), Austin (Brian) and his sister, Amber (Jodi Marx) of Madison. Karen is also survived by her first husband, Delbert (Judy) Olson of Baraboo; and her second husband, Guy Solberg of the New Glarus and Brooklyn area. Funeral services will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Road, Madison, on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial and graveside service will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Fairfield Cemetery near Baraboo. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
