MADISON/WAUNAKEE - John B. Raimond passed away peacefully at the Agrace HospiceCare Center on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born John Battista Raimond on June 7, 1928. He was the fourth child of Italian immigrants Antonio and Providenza Raimondo. John spent his childhood in the Green Bush neighborhood and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1945. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. When he returned from service, he met and married Delores Hanson. Their union produced four children: Linda (Bill), John (Fran), Diana (Ed) and Chris. John worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years and retired in 1982. John met Pat Miller, who became the love of this life. They married in Las Vegas in May of 2000. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. John could be found every Thursday morning at West Towne Mall sharing a laugh with his old friends. He loved teasing his sister, Teresa, and playing cards at Fabian’s Shoe Shop. John was an active member of the Italian Workmen’s Club and worked many of the Festa Italia’s until failing health prevented him from doing so. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores; brother, Sam and his wife Betty; and brother-in-law, John Brausen. John will be missed by his sisters, Vincenza (Victor) Martinelli and Teresa Brausen; and his brother Pat (Janice). He is further survived by his wife, Pat; his children; grandchildren, Andrea, Jamie (Tim), and Lisa; his great-grandchildren, Karlie, Ashley, Jaedon, and Parker. Over the years, John became a second father to Pat’s children, Jay (Jessica), Tana (Brad), and Scott. He was also Grandpa to her grandchildren: Justin, Brittany, Ty, Lexa, Kaitlin, Ashton, and Max and great-granddaughter, Ajah. Special thanks to Pat’s brother John (Jo) Howard, Sister Pam, and John’s long life friend, Nick Baldarotta, for all their support during John’s illness. The family would also like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Renal Center for all their help and Agrace HospiceCare for making John’s last days comfortable.
