Joan Marie Krueger

COTTAGE GROVE – Joan Marie Krueger, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at her home in Cottage Grove. She was born Feb. 28, 1932 to Theodore and Bernadette (Manning) Feisst in Madison WI. Joan married Gordon Cooley and together had three children; Theresa, Stephen and Gregory. She later married Earl Krueger Sr. in 1968, whom she spent her adult life with. Joan and Earl created wonderful memories for their entire family on their 160 acre farm south of Black Earth, WI. Especially for her brother Gerald and sisters, Peggy and Johanna. Later Joan and Earl retired on Gull Lake in Springbrook WI where she was the perfect host as they both entertained family and friends in their new “northern” home for many years. Joan later moved to Cottage Grove to be close to her family. Joan had a rare ability to light up a room when she entered, with her infectious laugh, natural charm, and her joy for living. Her determination to live life to its fullest, in spite of any adversities, provided inspiration to her many friends and family members. Joan’s life burned far brighter than most. She will be missed by the many lives she touched. Joan is survived by her daughter Theresa (Dana Sr.) Lonetree, her son Stephen (Darlene) Cooley, and stepchildren; Earl Krueger Jr., Linda Krueger, James (Shirley) Krueger, and Wanda (Richard Rupert) Krueger. She is further survived by her sister Peggy (Charles) Reible, brother Gerald (Pauline) Feisst and sister Johanna Schmelzer. She is preceded in death by her husband Earl, her parents, and her son Gregory. A Celebration of Life will be held at Olbrich Gardens on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 5:30 pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 4:00 pm. The celebration will continue with a meal being served following the service. We are Truly Thankful to Daniel Brown, her special companion for many years. With his tender care, she was able to continue to stay in the comfort and security of her home.
