Jessilyn Kae Fitzrandolph

VERONA - Jessilyn "Jessi" FitzRandolph was called to be by God's side on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, after a courageous four year battle with breast cancer. She passed peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare in the loving arms of her parents, Ruthie and Jeff. Jessi was born on May 21, 1977. She is survived by both parents; and her brother, Casey, his wife, Jenn and their children, Sawyer and Cassidy of Cross Plains. She is also survived by a very special aunt, Nancy Whitinger, as well as scores of aunts, uncles, cousins and a diverse group of very supportive friends. Jessi never married, although it was always part of her plan. She shared her life with her springer spaniel, Kirby whom she loved dearly. Her closest friends remained her soccer teammates from high school, the "Verona Babes". Jessi was born and raised in the Verona area, attending and graduating from Verona High School in 1995. As a young girl, Jessi followed her brother's footsteps and developed into a world class speedskater. She made her first U.S. National Short Track Team at the age of 13. In speedskating circles, she was often referred to as the next Bonnie Blair. She would quit speedskating the next year and pursue her first love, soccer. She was a starter on the girls' soccer team all four years in high school. Jessi, along with her friends, the "Verona Babes", were teammates on the first Verona soccer team to qualify for and participate in the Wisconsin State Soccer Championship tournament. After high school, she attended UW-Parkside and Edgewood College on soccer scholarships. She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and worked for Custom Contracting of Verona where she designed logos and uniform graphics for athletic teams from across the nation. Jessi loved spending summers at the family cabin on Lake Big Sissabagama near Hayward. The standing family joke about the lake was that if you took Jessi fishing you could always count on her to catch the biggest fish of the trip....a legacy that lived on as recently as the summer of 2013 when she once again out-fished the men in the family. Jessi outlived her doctors' prognoses for two years largely because the family moved away from conventional cancer treatments shortly after her diagnosis and put their faith in alternative cancer protocols that promote a healthy immune system using less toxic methods to treat the cancer. She made six trips to Fachklinik in Bad Salzhausen, Germany the spring of 2011 and one visit to the International Bio Care Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico the summer of 2012 where she was treated with alternative protocols that improved her quality of life. Although unable to work the last few years, she maintained a good quality of life using several alternative protocols and she was able to enjoy spending time in activities with family and friends up to a week before cancer finally took its physical toll. Jessi never let the disease define who she was and remained confident and optimistic of finding a cure to the very end. She has inspired many who have followed her journey on her "Carepages" (see below). She will always remain in our hearts and minds as the beautiful "fighter" with a playful heart, radiant smile and undying spirit. Agrace HospiceCare made our last days with Jessi feel like we were caring for her at home. We will always remember the love, grace, professionalism and warmth we received at Agrace. Please join us in a celebration of Jessi's life on Friday, March 28, 2014. The service will be held at BLACKHAWK CHURCH, 9620 Brader Way (just off Mineral Point Road), Middleton, Wis. A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the service will follow immediately at 3 p.m. Pastor Matt Rusten will lead us in our celebration. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the Atrium of the Church. Jessi has always loved flowers, with orchids being her favorite. For those of you who may wish to contribute in some other fashion, the family is accepting donations to the Jessi FitzRandolph Memorial Fund, 6434 Sunset Drive, Verona, WI 53593.
