Jerome R. Meadowcroft

DEFOREST - Jerome Reuben "Jerry" Meadowcroft, age 74, of DeForest, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Madison, Wis., on Dec. 3, 1942, son of Reuben and Frances (Duane) Meadowcroft. He graduated from Madison West High School and Wisconsin School of Electronics. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Navy, first in the reserves while completing his electronics degree, then in active duty overseas. After an honorable discharge he worked at Wisconsin Telephone Company, retiring from Ameritech (one of the company's many name changes). After retirement he worked at EVCO Plastics and JBM Patrol and Protection. Jerry was a devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His hobbies included electronics, home improvement, treasure hunting, and playing cards with family. He is survived by his three sons, Kurt (Nicole) Meadowcroft, Steven (Kathryn) Meadowcroft, and Eric (Emily) Meadowcroft. Jerry is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Brooklynn and Brenna Meadowcroft, Devan Nielsen, Tynne, Kearah, and Adaya Meadowcroft, Hudson and Emmalynn Meadowcroft; and his siblings, Joanne McCormick, Francine (George) Salerno, Richard (Sylvia) Meadowcroft, Jeanne (Stephen) Smith and Judy (Gary) Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stephen; brother-in-law, Neil McCormick; and the mother of his children, Karen (Tappendorf) Meadowcroft. A memorial service will be held at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017. Burial service will be at 12:30 p.m. at SUN PRAIRIE MEMORY GARDEN, then reception to follow at CROSSPOINT CHURCH.
