OREGON/WAUPUN - Jeannie Gronli, age 65, of Waupun and formerly of Oregon, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. She was born April 9, 1941, the daughter of LeRoy and Lucille (Corey) Wood. After spending her early years in the Stephenson, Michigan area, Jeannie graduated from St. Marys High School, Menasha, in 1959. Jeannie and her husband/best friend, Doug of over 40 years, spent most of their time in the Oregon, Wis. area, excluding a 2 year period of NASCAR circuit traveling and relocation to the Catawba-Lake Norman, NC area. In the mid 80’s they were drawn back to Wisconsin by their growing family. Jeannie resumed her career with the State of Wisconsin-Dept. of Corrections until her retirement in 2003. Jeannie loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, scrabble, NASCAR racing, and music. Jeannie was very proud of her sobriety, serenity and association with Alcoholics Annonymous for over 31 years. Jeannie is survived by her husband, Doug Gronli, Waupun; four children, Terry (Sandy) Wegner, Horicon, Lori Wegner, Oregon, Brad (Eda) Gronli, Apopka, Florida; Denise (Dana) Terrian, McFarland; a brother, Dr. Dennis (Chris) Wood, Rollins, Montana; 9 grandchildren, Shane (Stefanie) Wegner, Jenilee (Darrell) Reinhold, Eric (Rachel) Wegner, Jordan Wegner, Courtney and Libby Kiesow, Derek Terrian, and Patrick Froeschle, and Christopher (Hana) Froeschle; 7 great grandchildren, Austin, Connor, and Colton Reinhold, Brayden Wegner, Zoe Froeschle, Cassandra Spiegel and Skyler Froeschle. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and parents-in-law, Orvin, Eleanor and Pricscilla Gronli. A memorial gathering celebrating Jeannie’s life will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A short service will begin at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jeannie’s name to, Victory Junction Gang Camp, www.victoryjunction.org, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC, 27317 or a children’s charity of your choice. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
