Jean Louise Burdekin

SUN PRAIRIE – Jean Louise Burdekin, age 93, passed away at home on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 with her three daughters and grandson by her side. She was born on Jan. 23, 1920 in Schenectady, NY. She was united in marriage to Harold Burdekin on May 20, 1948. Jean was a graduate of Parson’s School of Design in New York City, where she studied fashion illustration. Her art career included oil portraits and landscapes. Jean had been a member of the Madison Art Guild since 1965 and helped plan the first Art Fair on the Square; she also helped plan the art show at University Hospital, and both have become yearly events. Jean also volunteered for over 10 years at University Hospital. Jean is survived by her three loving daughters, Catherine Koepke of Marshall, Patricia Snell-Jackson (Dale Jackson) of Huntersville, NC and Holly Burdekin of Marshall. She is also survived by many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold and son Walter. Funeral services will be held at GOOD SHEPHARD EPISCIPAL CHURCH, 3416 Swansee Ridge, Sun Prairie on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Father Mike Tess officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sun Prairie.
