MADISON – Janet Kay Gibson, age 79 of Madison, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at her home in Madison. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on November 12, 1942, the daughter of Garth T. Peck, Sr., and Wilma Lee (Salley) Peck.
Janet moved to Madison in 1987 from Denver, with her son Damon. She then began working at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board and retired after 20 years to take care of her youngest grandson, Tyson.
Before retiring Janet was very involved in her church where she participated in the yearly Christmas Choir productions and was an infant/toddler age daycare and Sunday school teacher for many years.
She lived at a senior living apartment on the Eastside of Madison for the last 5 years and made several friends during that time and enjoyed playing card games, bingo and socializing with them often. She enjoyed being a social butterfly (on her own terms of course).
Janet is survived by her son, Damon (Michelle) Baldwin; sister, Donna (Warren) Heckman; brother, Garth (Cyndi) Peck; and grandchildren, Austin and Tyson. She was preceded in death by her parents; father of her son, Oscar Baldwin; and a niece, Renee Brown.
A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at PARK GLEN COMMONS, 201 N. Walbridge Ave., Madison.
Janet had a giant, tender heart full of love and left everyone who met her with a smile. She was very generous, sometimes almost to a fault as she would often rather go without for herself to make sure others had what they wanted and needed.
Thoughtful, Loving and Kind.
