James A. Brookens, 90, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many departed this world on October 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will forever be remembered. James was born on December 1, 1932, in Pennsylvania to Arthur and Fredricka (Dentler) Brookens. He married Cindy Addie in June of 1975 in Rockford, Illinois.
Jim is remembered for always having a joke to tell. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a man who loved to tinker; and knew the value of duct tape and superglue. Prior to retirement, Jim worked at the Chrysler Auto Plant in Belvidere, Illinois.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindy Brookens; his daughter, Sharon Dove; his sons, Terry (Lori) Brookens of Edgerton and Tracy (Tina) Brookens of Germantown. He is also survived by his sister in law, Candy Olson; his 10 grandchildren: Daniel, Nathan, Cheyenne, Lindsay, Nicholas, Rachel, Anna, Alec, Katie and Allison; his 3 bonus grandchildren: Jessica, Chad and Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 bonus great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his father and mother; his son, Steven Brookens; and son in law, Victor Dove.
