Hilma Goulette

Love is a wild and singing bird which, beyond even death, shall be heard. Born January 8, 1920, to Hans and Emma (nee Larson) Osterude, Hilma set out on Saturday, May 12, 2007, to reunite with her husband, Leroy “Tommy”, her Mother and “Pa” and her brother, Louie. Forever grateful for her are her sons, Thomas (Mary) Goulette of Winter Park, Colo., Steve (Sharon) Goulette of Murrieta, Calif., Gregory Goulette of Eau Claire, Wis.; and her daughter, Kathy (Steve) Blomquist of Chetek, Wis. Sadly missing “Granny” are Brenna Rae Blomquist, Jacqueline Monique (John) Hilton, Michael Goulette, Jeanne (Rick) Seehusen, Kari (Jake) Billapudua and Jeff Peterson; and 12 precious great-grandbabies. Also surviving are her loving sisters, Louise Gray of Seattle and Ruth Walker of Lynnwood, Wash. Old and new friends alike were met by Hilma with affection and acceptance, and will miss her as well. Hilma spent her entire life in the Eau Claire area, from her early years as a child of the operator of the Caryville Ferry, meeting and marrying Tommy “LT” in 1940, cherishing and nurturing four rambunctious kids and being a proud and cuddly granny and great-granny. She liked to travel and visit family in California, Colorado and Washington state. She looked forward to casino trips with Gregory, “Bingo!ing” and was an astute and winning Rummikub champ. In remembrance and appreciation of Hilma’s life, and sorrow at her passing, a memorial Mass will be said at noon Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in the Sacred Heart Hospital chapel, 900 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, Wis. All who knew and cherished her are most welcome to attend. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
