Hildelberto Godinez

Gilbert Godinez, 54, of Janesville, WI passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in September, 2014. Gilbert was born December 13, 1960 in Mexico. Son of Jose Guadelupe Godinez Leon and Esperanza Martinez Godinez. He was the eldest of 12 children. He married Mavis Mitchell on April 18, 1997. Gilbert was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed watching soccer and Mexican soap operas. He loved listening to music, tinkering in the garden, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was employed for many years at Stoughton Trailer and Briggs & Stratton before a kidney transplant rendered him unable to work. He is survived by his parents, Jose and Esperanza Godinez, Mexico; his wife, Mavis Godinez, Janesville; his two children, Christy, Kenosha, and, Esperanza, Janesville; his stepchildren, Samantha, Adam, and Shawn, Janesville; his brothers and sisters, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Salvation Army, 514 Sutherland Ave, Janesville.
