MADISON – Henry A. “Hank” Barica, Sr., age 81 of Madison, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born Dec. 22, 1925 in Kenosha, the son of Andrew and Olga (Handzel) Barica. Following graduation, Hank served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He married Laverne Lyon in Chicago on Nov. 23, 1946. Work would later relocate them to Madison where they were able to stay and raise their six children. He worked for 40 years at RCA Service Corp., before retiring as branch manager in 1984. Hank is survived by his wife of 60 wonderful years, Laverne; six children, Evelyn Barica, Pam (Bob) Schmied, Henry Barica, Jr., Mary Barica, Susan Barica and Amy (Dave) Stoffels; five grandchildren, Robby (Laura) and Stephanie Schmied, Derek A., Andrew and Brianna Stoffels; a step-grandson, Derek D. Stoffels; a brother-in-law, Charles (Ruth) Lyon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Evelyn Barica, Lillian (Joseph) Donlan, and Geri (William) Swanson; a sister-in-law, Elaine Lyon; father-in-law, Charles Lyon and mother-in-law, Anna Lyon. A celebration of Hank’s life will be held at CHRIST MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2822 Raritan Rd., Fitchburg, on Sat. Oct. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Meyer officiating.
