Helen M. Hendrickson

COTTAGE GROVE – Helen M. Hendrickson, age 88 of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Shepherd Premier Senior Living in Cottage Grove, following a brief illness.

Helen was born in Viola, Wis., on Sept. 15, 1935, the daughter of Delos and Mildred (Mayfield) Glick. Helen and her family lived on a small dairy farm in LaFarge, WI. Over the years she helped with many farm chores, as well as in high school being involved in softball, cheer leading and Glee Club activities. Following her graduation from LaFarge High School in 1954, she moved to Madison, where she worked as a nanny. She married Kenneth Hendrickson on July 12, 1958, at the Little Brown Church, near Nashau, Iowa.

Helen managed the home, while Ken worked for Oscar Mayer/Kraft. She loved being a mother to their two daughters, Linda and Karen. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and going to the family cottage up north. She cared for many cats over the years, with each of them having a special place in her heart.

Helen is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Van Patter of Beaver Dam, and Karen (Peter Wegger) Hendrickson of Madison; grandchildren, Danielle Ellis and Michelle Braun; her brother, Roger (Betty) Glick; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eldon, Richard, and Gary; and three sisters, Virginia, Lolabelle, and Rosetta.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison. Private burial will be at Cottage Grove Cemetery, Cottage Grove, Wis.
