Helen C. Block

MIDDLETON - Helen C. Block, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison. She was born in Oak Creek, Wis., daughter of the late Edwin and Stella Esch. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Dale Block and her brother, Elden Esch. She is survived by her sister, Audrey (Lloyd) Conrad; her four children, Cynthia (Barry Boland) Block-Boland of Cottage Grove, Debra (Peter Labruna) Block-Labruna of Calabash, N.C., Kevin Block of Browns Mills, N.J., and Gary Block of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and other relatives and friends. She was an avid sports fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and UW-Madison Badgers. She had great enthusiasm of birdwatching, tending flowers, baking cookies and having ice cream after dinner. Her work career included Ernst and Young in Madison and St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madison. She touched many lives and will truly be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to several special people in Helens life. A heart felt thank you to Linda M. and her family. Linda spent countless hours helping Helen with her every need, going above and beyond what anyone ever expected or could imagine. Thank you to Tina D. who was Helens hair stylist for many years and provided the most personal service. To Helens many neighbors who would stop and share their day, like Susan M. who was by her side in good times and bad, thank you many times over. And especially to Connie L., a friend and neighbor who provided extraordinary comfort and assistance out of the kindness of her heart. Once again, thank you all.
