Harriet Ann Pickering

Harriet Ann Pickering, who became a believer in Jesus Christ as a child, stepped into the arms of her Savior on July 7th, 2014. She was 85 and resided in Janesville, WI with her dear husband of 62 years, Warney Pickering. Harriet was born in Arena, WI, the daughter of George and Eva (Kronquist) Hodgson. She graduated from UW Madison with a degree in Home Economics. She was an Extension Agent, a Home Economics teacher at Northland Bible College, a Food Service manager at Camp Joy and the office manager for her husbands business. Her greatest work was the investment she made in the lives of her family. Harriet found her joy in serving others and raising her children to love the Lord. She was a Sunday School and Bible teacher, a speaker at womens meetings, a refuge for missionaries on furlough, and maintained a card ministry to family and friends. She was known for her warm, gracious spirit and hospitality. She made the best rolls in the world. Her sweet gentleness was displayed even in her final illness, making her a blessing to all who cared for her on her journey home. Harriet is survived by her husband and 5 children; Todd (Susan) Pickering, Trudy (Rob) Likes and Tricia (Paul) Traxler of WI; Terri (John) Janke of IA; Trent (Elise) Pickering of VA. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen (Hodgson) Stewart, and her brother David Hodgson. Harriet will be buried in Arena, WI. A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Beloit, WI, on July 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for blessing us with their care and compassion. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Prov. 31:28
