FITCHBURG - Harriet A. Fricke, age 90, passed away at her home on Sunday Friday, June 10, 2012. Harriet Fricke, daughter of the Reverend Harry C. and Lillian Glabe Fricke, was born in Chambers Nebraska on September 23, 1921. Inspired by her parents and a social worker uncle, Harriet decided, at an early age, to become a social worker. After obtaining her B.A. from Valparaiso University and her M.A. from the University of Chicago, School of Social service Administration, Harriet entered the social work field. during the course of her career, Harriet worked at public and private agencies in Illinois and Minnesota, was a pioneer in promoting Black-White adoptions and the right of adopted adults to reunions with their biological parents, lectured extensively throughout the United States and Canada and was a charter member of the national Association of Social Workers. She is mourned by her sister, Lois Oehme (Harland), brothers Roger Fricke (Marion) and James Fricke (Lee), 9 nieces and nephews, 21 grand nieces and nephews, and many friends. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday June 16, 2012 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Fitchburg, with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be private in Holyoke, Minnesota.
