OCALA, FLORIDA/FENNIMORE, WIS. Harold W. Porky Schopf, age 89, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at his residence in Ocala, Florida. Harold was born on Jan. 27, 1928 in Freeport, Ill., the only child of Clarence and Emma (Stenzhorn) Schopf. He married Shirley Cox on Jan. 30, 1949 in Freeport, Ill. Harold was a veteran of the U.S Army, serving in Hawaii. Following his service, he owned his own trucking company. He later worked for the Ford Motor Company in truck sales; Moormans Feed Company as district manager; and finally retiring from Schwans Ice Cream in 1993. After his retirement, Harold and Shirley moved to Ocala, Florida, where he kept busy as sound and light director at the On Top Of the World Community where they lived. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with his dog Winston. Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Schopf of Ocala, Florida; three children, Cynthia (Kent) Kreul of Ocala, Florida, Greg (Cheryl) Schopf of Fennimore, Wis., and Bradley Schopf of Ocala, Florida; his dog, Winston; four grandchildren, Eric (Laurie) Kreul of Decorah, Iowa, Amy (Ed) Fuerstenberg of Winneconne, Wis., Todd Schopf and Tim (Nicole) Schopf of Fennimore, Wis., six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ashley, Tyler, Brittney, Aviana, and Kevin; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Carole (Danny) McCubbins and Dorothy Cox. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, David Cox. At his request, services will be private.
