MADISON - Harold R. Bud Beyer, age 73, died unexpectedly on Nov. 3, 2016. He passed away peacefully in his sleep hours after watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series with family members and connecting with others with phone calls and text messages throughout the epic game. He was born on May 23, 1943 the son of Harold W. and Helen (Meier) Beyer in Marshfield, Wis. He graduated from Northwestern Preparatory School (now Luther Prep) in Watertown, Wis., in 1961 and subsequently from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He was an avid gardener, loved playing cards, Scrabble and other board games with his family, and was interested in astronomy and politics. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years before enjoying retirement in 1999. Bud is survived by five children: Calvin (Kristine) Beyer, Montgomery (Mindy) Beyer, Darrell Beyer, Alison Beyer, and Jonnafae (Al) Gladem; nine grandchildren: Preston, Peyton, Chandler, Chase, Cassidy, Kathryn, Zachary (Danielle), Brandie, and Elizabeth; great-grandson, Alexander; his father, Harold W. Beyer of Neillsville, Wis.; and sister, Becky Winters of Lake Mills, Wis. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorri Beyer (2004) and second wife, Betty Albertson Beyer (2015); as well as his mother, Helen; and brother, Landon.
