MADISON - Harland Willard "Pistol Pete" Petersen, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 6, 2014. He was born July 21, 1940 in Madison. He served his country proudly as a Para-Trooper in the Army and also in the Seabee's of the U.S. Navy. Pete loved life, driving the open road, tinkering and westerns. Most of all Pete loved picnicking, spending time with family "his village" and friends, while enjoying a PBR. He is survived by his wife of forty eight years Jean; sons, Rick, Nate and Keith; daughters, Kathy, Pam, Connie and Sheila; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Darlene, Kathy, Dixie, Evie, David; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard. A celebration of Harland's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Road, Madison. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service a celebration will be held at the VFW No. 8483, 5737 County Highway CV, Madison.
