MADISON - Harlan A Peterson, age 95, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at St. Marys Care Center in Madison. He was born in Portage, Wis., on Dec. 31, 1920, the son of Clarence and Margaret (Isberner) Peterson. He married Jean Sweeney on May 6, 1943, in Great Falls, Montana. Harlan proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Europe from 1942 to 1945. In 1947 he moved his family to Madison where he worked for Oscar Mayer for 37 years until his retirement in 1984. Harlan, Jean, and their children enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Swan Lake near Portage, Wis. He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison. Harlan is survived by his children, Larry (Jean) of Vail, Colorado, Jeff of Milwaukee, Ann (Doug) of Green Bay, and Jan (Tim) Paige of Middleton; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Haltom of Wayzata, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; brothers, Kenneth, Ron, and Bernard; and a sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1021 Spaight St., Madison, on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
