MADISON – Halvard W. “Jake” Jacobson, born March 16, 1915 to Adolph and Rose (Wagner) Jacobson, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Oakwood Village. Hal served aboard a P.C. Ship in World War II that was to be the first vessel into Tokyo Bay for the cancelled invasion. Hal enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling with his wife Mary to Hawaii and China. He was a lifelong Optician in Madison and Sarasota, Florida, before returning to Madison and Oakwood Village. He is survived by his sister, Kathryn Sherman; and nieces and nephews. Hal was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Unterfranz) Jacobson and his parents. A private memorial service will be held.
