DEFOREST Gladys M. Nesheim, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She was born on June 18, 1918 in Arena, Wis., to Alfred and Lena Mueller. She married Reuben Nesheim on Oct. 27, 1936. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1987. Her son David A. Nesheim also preceded her in death. It was impossible not to love Gladys. Just ask her four daughters, Marjorie (Edward) Borter, Mary (Robert) Kraemer, Carol Brandl, and Nancy Lopez; 13 grandchildren Mark (Vicki) Borter, Ruth (Randy) Larson, James (Tina) Borter, Marty (Eric) Hall, Aaron (Heidi) Kraemer, Sarah (Michael) Roadt, Brenda (Dale) Stoffels, John (Rosabel) Brandl, Megan (Stephane) Onomo, Joaquin Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Andrew (Melissa) Lopez, Curt (Tina) Nesheim; 18 great-grandchildren, Joey and Amy Verhagen, Michelle and Scott Swain, Jessica and Mike Hein, Zachary and Skyler Border, Loren Puetz, Alexix, Lindsay, and Katelyn Nesheim, Jacob and Lucas Roadt, Taylor and Patrick Merida, Tyler, Carson and Shane Stoffels, Gabriel Bromley, Calvin Brandl, Christopher, Stephan and Julian Lopez; 17 great-great grandchildren, Noah, Korynn, Morgan, Jay, Lynn, Lyla, Jacob, Emilie, Braxton, Gavin, Carter, Ava, Olivia, Jackson, Adeline, Liam and Layton; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. They will tell you that no visit to Fat and Sassys was complete without homemade cookies, upbeat conversation and a big wet kiss. Life took a wonderful turn in 1953 when Reuben and Gladys were both baptized as Jehovahs Witnesses at a convention in New York City. Gladys was the type of woman and mother that everyone deserves to have in their life. She and her lemon bars will be remembered and missed by men and women of all ages and backgrounds across the Midwest, including Texas. How we feel about her is summed up in these words: THERE ARE MANY CAPABLE WOMEN, BUT YOU-YOU SURPASS THEM ALL Pr 31:29. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, 5475 Portage Road, Madison. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Gladys family would like to extend a special thank you for the compassion and support of the staff at GHC Deforest Clinic and Waunakee Manor Nursing Home.
