MADISON - Gerda Anneliese (Jerchel) Kaud passed away April 25, 2012 at her home. She was born June 28, 1926 in Breslau, Germany and was the daughter of the late Bertold and Erna Jerchel. She graduated as a nurse at the Breslau Nursing School and served as a nurse during World War II. She then immigrated to Canada tin 1953, following which she came to the USA where she became a licensed real estate broker and worked with local real estate companies. In 1964, she married Faisal A. Kaud with whom she found much happiness as it centered on the family and basic life values. Gerda avidly supported social causes and assisted the needy and the disadvantaged people in particular who were overlooked and forgotten by the mainstream public. Gerda like her surviving husband was a dedicated UW Hockey fan. Her brother Rudiger, who is the only survivor in her family, resides in Germany. A gathering of family members and friends will be held at the AGRACE HOSPCIECARE CENTER, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It was Gerda's wishes, and now the wishes of her family members to thank the caring doctors and staff at the UW Hospital and Clinics, Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace HospiceCare, as well as friends and family members that showed Gerda how much she was loved, particular during the critical period of her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
