George R. Riesen

It is with deep sadness and heavy regret to announce George R. Riesen, age 88, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at his home with family at his side. He was born on Jan. 25, 1926 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Henry and Bernice Riesen. He married Barbara M. Zdradzinski on June 25, 1949. George was a craftsman working for Midway Realty as a carpenter for many years, as well as several years at the Janesville School District from which he retired. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milton. George enjoyed collecting antiques, as well as helping out whenever he could as an all around handyman. George is survived by his wife of 65 years, six children: Judith (Tom) Green, Peggy (Donald) Wallman, Kathie (David) Jones, Deb (Robert) Samuelson, David (Kim) Riesen, and Janet White; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: John and Paul. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that prayers and condolences be sent for the family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday Jan. 19, 2015 at the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Milton, WI with Fr. David Timmerman officiating. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
