George H. Knepler

MADISON – George H. Knepler, age 78 of Madison, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at The Lighthouse in Sun Prairie. He was born Feb. 21, 1930 in West Allis, the son of Jacob and Helen (Schmidt) Knepler. He graduated from West Allis Central High School. George married Mary Femrite on March 30, 1952 in Madison. He worked for several years with the Madison Bus Company and the Milwaukee Road Railroad. Following his retirement, George enjoyed getting together with retired co-workers. When he was younger, he taught many students the piano and accordion. George loved gardening, downhill skiing and mentoring students at Marquette Elementary School and Bethany Church in Madison. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Jim (Deb) Knepler, of West Bend, Sue (Gary) Chamberlain, of Deerfield, Cyndi Knepler, of Little Chute, and Dave Knepler, of Merrimac; five grandchildren, Brian, Joe and Kevin Chamberlain, and Emily and Katie Knepler; and a brother, Ed Knepler, of Clearwater, Fl. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Mayhak officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.
