Gay M. Ronne

MADISON - Gay M. Ronne passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital hospice unit, in Madison. He lived an amazing 101 years that were filled with family and friends, adventure, travel, a passion for horses, skiing and, most of all, music. He was born on a ranch in Chinook, Mont., the tenth child of Hogan L. Ronne of Norway and Mabel Hedges Riegel of Chinook. Later his family moved to Portland, Ore. Gay loved to share his stories of these times in his life to all who would listen. When World War II broke out, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was eventually stationed at Truex Field in Madison, where he met his wife while riding horses. Together they raised five children. He ran his own business until he was 97 years old. Gay was preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings; his oldest son, Donald Gary Ronne; his wife of 69 years, Lynne; his parents-in-law, Charlotte Perkins Schuetz and John Schuetz; and his brother-in-law, Jack Schuetz. He is survived by his daughter, Alana Ronne Mynyk (Ted); his three sons, William Bill Michael Ronne, John Jack Brent Ronne (Linda), Robert Bob Todd Ronne; two grandsons, Brandon M. Ronne (Molly) and Taylor K. Kihoi (Dana); three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kiana, and Koa; his sister-in-law, Carol Schuetz Hanson; many nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. Our family wishes to especially thank the doctors, nurses, social workers, and aids at the VA Hospital for their wonderful care of our father and the kind support of our family. A memorial gathering will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, on Saturday May, 12, 2018, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. He will be laid to rest next to his wife and son in Mazomanie Cemetery in a private burial.
