Gary W. Mcconochie

MADISON- Gary Wayne McConochie, age 78, passed away on August 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 15, 1945, to Christopher and Bessie McConochie in Pardeeville, WI. Gary was the youngest of the boys out of a total of seventeen children.

Gary enjoyed life to the fullest including spending time with his family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Gary spent 46 years working as a mechanical foreman at Bock Water Heaters in Madison, WI, where he happily retired in 2010.

Gary met the love of his life, Sandy Lucht, in 1989 and they were inseparable ever since. Marrying in 2011, both Gary and Sandy spent 35 years together building and enjoying their families including three kids, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Gary loved his weekend camper at Crystal Lake, WI where he met so many great friends. For most every weekend between April and October you would always find Gary relaxing and talking with family and friends, mostly while going for a ride on his golf cart.

Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, Christopher and Bessie McConochie; his son, Sean Alan McConochie (Sara) who passed away at the age of 38 years old; and fourteen of his siblings. Gary is survived by his wife Sandy McConochie; stepsons, Ken and Jason Lucht; grandchildren, Jasmine and Mason McConochie; grandchildren, Jason, Colin, Jacob and Jersie Lucht; and great grandchildren, August and Jacob Lucht.

A private family gathering will be held, and Gary will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI.
