Fredrick M. Miller

Frederick M. Miller, age 88, of Eagen, MN and formerly of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2008 with family members at his side at the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice in Edina, MN. He was born in Eau Claire on January 3, 1920, the youngest of nine children of Herman and Ida (Jochum) Miller. He was a 1937 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. On April 28, 1947 Fred was united in marriage to Margaret C. Carlson whom he deeply loved and cherished, and with whom he is now happily reunited in Heaven. Fred was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a veteran of WWII, serving his country for over three years in North Africa, France and Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service.. Fred worked for the Eau Claire News Company for over 50 years. He spent his entire career with the company, his tenure interrupted only during his service in the Army. He lived his entire life in Eau Claire until moving to the Commons on Marice in Eagan to be closer to his eldest son, Jim. Survivors include his children Jim (Kathleen) Miller of Mendota Heights, MN, Margaret (Eddie) Bowman of Sheridan, WY, and John (Joan) Miller of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren Kathy Anderson, Kimberly Kuriscak , Trevor Bowman, Sean Bowman, Leslie Miller, Lauren Miller and Kelli Miller; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Jacob and Drew Anderson, and Sophia, Thomas and Mary Kuriscak. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, who passed away in 1963; his parents; his brothers Harold and Frank; and his sisters Diana Smith, Dorothy Larson, Leona Nordrum, Elizabeth Schaaf, Irene McCarthy, and Katherine Welter. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church 2502 11th St., Eau Claire with Fr. John Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the church, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to N. C.
