MADISON - Fred J. Paul, age 73, died on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born June 17,1932 in Kenosha, where he also graduated from high school. He served two years in the army during the Korean War and then attended UW-Milwaukee, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Fred worked for the State of Wisconsin, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for 28 years. He is survived by three sisters, Sr. Chiara Pauloni, O.P. of Sinsinawa, Wis; Mary Smolik of Kenosha, and Joyce (Bob)Tatem of Prescott Valley, AZ and his special friend and long time companion, Diane Prellwitz of Madison, Wis. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ersilia Pauloni; wife, Paula Paul; brother, Chet Pauloni and sister, Gloria Mikolaicyk. There will be no visitation or service at Fred’s request. Private internment will be at Oak Hall Cemetery. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a future date to be announced. If you would like to honor his memory, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Fred was loved and respected and will be missed by his family, especially Sr.Chiara, and friends more than he would ever acknowledge. He was known as a man of wit, intelligence, compassion and integrity; “a big man with a big heart”; a great dinner guest, a wonderful companion and true friend. A special thanks to friends Dennis and Jane, Donna, Joe, Michelle and Maureen who kept him company; to Jana, Steve and Christopher for catered dinners and good conversation; to Dr. McFarland and the Hospice staff who cared for him.
