Janesville- Fred Konzen, devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, died on June 29, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. He was born to Eleanor and Henry Konzen of Chicago, Illinois on August 31, 1921. He served in the Coast Guard and Navy during WWII. On February 23, 1946, he married the love of his life, Helen (Bender) of New Jersey. He worked as a petroleum engineer for United Airlines in Chicago, retiring after 30 years. He was an avid Cubs fan, and his laughter, kind smile and courage inspired all who knew him. He was devoted to his church, Good Shepherd Lutheran in Janesville. Fred is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; seven children: Ruthann (Joe) Giarle of Leesburg, FL, Fred “Ricky” (Peggy) Konzen Jr. of Plant City, FL, Mary Beth (Vaughn) Stastny of Bolingbrook, IL, Helen (Andrew) Franklin of Beloit, Laura (Michael) Previte of Waukesha, Mark (Lisa) Konzen of Orlando, FL and Lisa Konzen of Janesville; 20 grandchildren and 14 soon to be 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Janesville, WI. Visitation will be Saturday, July 1, 2006 from 4 to 8:00 P.M. with video tribute and remembrance ceremony at 8:00 P.M. at the All Faiths Funeral Chapel 1618 E. Racine St. Janesville.
