Frances J. Sprague

Sprague, Frances June Frances June Sprague, 92, died Jan. 23, 2008, at Cedar Crest in Janesville, WI. She was born in Topeka, KS, the daughter of John Jay Henderson and Jennie June Simpson Henderson. Frances spent her first 20 years in Topeka. As a U.S. military spouse, she lived at several postings, including Nagoya, Japan, where she was a Gray Lady in a U.S. Armed Forces hospital during the Korean War. Frances appreciated graphic arts, painting and photography, and was known for dressing fashionably. She was a tender and empathetic person, practicing acts of kindness for family and friends, and known for her love of fun and humor. Alameda, CA, was her home for 37 years, where she was employed at several trucking companies, retiring as an office manager at Shippers Imperial, Inc., a division of Del Monte Foods, after 18 years there. She moved to Gold Beach, OR in 1990, and then to Wisconsin eight years later, upon the death of her husband, John Sprague. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Dobson of Beloit; a grandson, Jonathan Dobson of Vashon, WA; a granddaughter, Rachel Conran; great-granddaughter, Emma Conran of Kenosha, WI; nieces, Vicki Abad of Milwaukee, WI, and Patti Tyner of Brea, CA; nephews: Ralph Schumann of South Carolina, Craig Henderson and Scott Henderson of Oregon, as well as grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Henderson Schumann; her brothers, Harold Henderson and Eugene Henderson; and a nephew, Forrest Henderson. A memorial service is planned for mid-March in the CHAPEL AT CEDAR CREST, 1700 S. River Rd., Janesville, WI. The family is grateful for the loving care and home that Cedar Crest provided for Frances for the last nine years of her life. Gifts in her memory may be given to the Cedar Crest Benevolent Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association of Rock County.
