MADISON - Evertye Louise Dittman, age 90, passed away Feb. 8, 2010 while attended by family. She was born July 19, 1919 in Highmore, SD to Grace and Anton DeGooyer. She received a teaching certificate from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1940, and during her first year of teaching met her future husband, Emil Dittman. She returned to college at age 50 and received a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. Through the years Evertye worked as an educator, health care provider, and later as a psychiatric nurse and counselor. Evertye loved poetry and gardening, and was dedicated to her family. She laughed easily and met life's challenges with style and grace. Evertye is preceded in death by her husband Emil, three sisters and one brother, her daughter Colleen Dittman, and her grandson James Bloxham. Evertye is survived by three brothers, her daughters Margaret Dittman, Lucille (Stanley) Brown, Barbara (Daniel) Bloxham, and Denise (Daniel Cash) Karns, grandchildren, Michelle (John) Nephew, Craig Brown, Wendy (Andrew) Wyman, Steven Bloxham, and Christopher (Jennifer) Bloxham; and three great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 3:30 p.m., in the chapel at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Rd, Madison, WI 53704, with Pastor Dean Kirst officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeview Lutheran Church for their accessibility projects. The family wishes to thank the staff of St Mary's Care Center, Madison for their dedication and care over the years.
